Douglas Watkinson
a.k.a Marcus Barr

In 1980 he went freelance and since then has written literally hundreds of television scripts, from The Onedin Line to Howards Way, from Boon to Heartbeat, from Z Cars to Midsomer Murders, via Juliet Bravo, and The Professionals. Most of those series are still being shown on satellite channels in Britain and all over the world.

“If I had to list my favourites, these would be among them: Lovejoy, Maybury, Boon, Forever Green, Poirot and, most recently, Midsomer Murders.”

“And now I’ve turned my hand to writing books. Detective novels in the classic vein. The hero’s called Nathan Hawk and he’s a retired Detective Chief Inspector with a quick temper. He’s come to live in a village like mine, hoping that gardening and dinner parties will keep him happy. They don’t!”
